Sophia Weaver is an experienced business leader in the energy sector with over 20 years expertise in the growth and development of oil and gas assets. Following a 2-year stint in multi-sector supply chain management and supply-side contracting and procurement, Sophia started her energy career in Shell Nigeria as a production technologist and held several technical roles across the analytical spectrum in well engineering, asset management, front-end development planning and project management. She developed niche workstreams as a projects and technology specialist during an international assignment in Shell International E&P in Houston, Texas, USA which she translated into deepwater development drilling operations, resulting in multi-million dollar savings.

Sophia’s career evolved to leadership roles directing cross-functional teams overseeing opportunity maturation, development integration on large-scale projects and influencing project investment decisions through economic and financial evaluations in her role as Head of Production Engineering, and Manager for Wells, Reservoir and Facilities Management at First Exploration & Petroleum Development Company.

Recognized as an award-winning Petroleum Engineering professional, Sophia was awarded the prestigious Society of Petroleum Engineers Regional award for Completion Optimization and Technology in 2018. Prior to joining HSI, Sophia was the Asset Manager and Senior Advisor to the CEO at Waltersmith Petroman Oil Ltd, were she held P&L, HSE, regulatory and complex stakeholder accountability on assets with multimillion-dollar operating budgets and led the integrated technical, commercial, legal and financial acquisition of a key growth asset from a multinational energy company.

Sophia holds a bachelor of engineering degree in chemical engineering, a master of engineering management degree from Penn State University, USA, and an Executive MBA from London Business School, UK. She is an alumna of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership at the University of Cambridge, UK.
